Tutor In-Service Modules
ESOL Games

Learning English should be fun! Adults like to have fun while learning just as children do. The adult ESOL class or small group can benefit from the interaction and relaxed atmosphere that playing a game can provide. Click here to read more information about why using games in an ESOL group can be beneficial and to see some sample games.

Dave's ESL Cafe website is a great resource for all kinds of information regarding ESOL. Click here to go the games portion of the ESL Cafe. Choose 3 new games that you have never tried to play with your students. Write each one into a lesson plan and use it in a lesson with your students. Remember that you can print the information on the webpage.

After using the 3 games in your class or small group, please click here and write an evaluation of how each game worked with your students. Be sure to include the name of the game as it appears on the website so that we can share the best ones with other tutors. Then click "Send" to send it to Literacy Volunteers. A staff member will read your response and contact you. Please feel free to comment on the module and offer suggestions. Completing this module fulfills Literacy Volunteer's requirement for annual tutor re-certification.

Thanks for participating.
