Workplace Literacy

In most businesses today, the challenges of competition and technology demand a workforce with the basic skills-often literacy skills-to assume new responsibilities and to increase productivity. Here, in Beaufort County, where roughly 30,000 adults are in need of literacy services, our workforce is not as well trained as it needs to be to attract and sustain business. Some employees, while hardworking, are unable to read training manuals or safety instructions.

Our growing Hispanic population bolsters many local businesses with responsible employees, many of whom are limited in the new tasks they can assume and new skills they can acquire simply because they lack the capability to communicate in English.

In the workplace, poor literacy often translates to ineffective problem-solving and a lack of self-confidence.

Across the U.S., businesses and literacy providers are teaming to provide employees the basic skills they need to become more productive workers…and more effective parents and citizens. We are committed to partnering with local business to help employees and their employers succeed.

We welcome the opportunity to bring to your workplace the same excellence in adult literacy services which we have provided for more than 8,000 adults over the past 32 years.
