"A lot of people say, 'I can't do this; I can't do that.' But there's no such thing as 'can't.' You have to put your mind to it and apply yourself!"

Literacy Volunteers Holds Community Breakfast in Beaufort
More than 130 Beaufort residents attended Literacy Volunteers of the Lowcountry’s Strengthening the Community Through Literacy fundraising breakfast held at The Holiday Inn Hotel and Suites Tuesday, May 24, 2011.
Guests heard moving personal accounts of three current LVL students, Rose Green, Betty Helfin and Carina Padgett as well as remarks from Nancy Williams, Executive Director, Cindi Riley, Assistant Executive Director and Dick Stewart, founder and managing member of 303 Associates, a real estate development and management company. Their message was clear. Literacy is the hub of a healthy community.
For more than 38 years Literacy Volunteers of the Lowcountry has equipped thousands of Beaufort and Jasper County adults with the reading, writing, math and speaking skills they need to be successful and self –sufficient members of their family, the workplace and their community.
